hey guys, i'm trying to get a new daily driver... 02 camaro z28 that my work sent to wholesale. it has reproduction corvette wheels on it, which IMO don't look right on this car.. besides it failed state inspection needing 4 new tires. can't buy the car if it won't pass state, but i don't want to buy expensive vette tires for rims i don't want. sooo, i was wondering if there's any chance that maybe the wheels & tires i have on the monte would fit. then i can "borrow" them long enough to pass inspection so i can get this car. if not, i'm thinking buying used stock wheels & tired would probably be cheaper than buying 4 low profile corvette sized tires. any opinions?

thanks for the info. i guess my concern now is backspacing since the monte's wheels aren't stock. here's a pic of the z28 just because. odd angle since as you can see there's cars piled almost on top of each other. the tires aren't wide enough for the rims. not sure why the previous owner did that. i am excited about the brand new [loud] flowmaster exhaust. i really want this car. lol

Thats a nice looking ride! And those wheels would look awesome on a Monte....
Jen the Offset is different, putting the Monte wheels on the camaro will fit, but they will stick out past the wheel lip. I'd say your best bet would be pick up a set of used stock rims and stock size tires. Especially if you plan on Keeping it. But it might be cheaper to replace the tires that are already on the car.
Good luck

well, the idea was to put the monte wheels on for a day or 2 so it will pass state inspection so i can buy the car. then i will swap them back again, and drive on the corvette wheels temporarily while i shop around for a used stock setup. i just don't want to buy wheels first in case the deal falls through and for some reason i don't buy the car.
our wholesale cars sometimes are great deals but the catch is you can't do the work yourself to make it pass state, you have to pay our shop to do it.

Yeah that should work.
Atleast you can get cars wholesale! Were not allowed to buy from our customers

well, we can't buy it straight from the customer.. that would be against policy. if they trade it in and it doesn't meet our dealership's criteria (high mileage, frame damage, too old, etc.) they go to wholesale. employees get first dibs on it, but every other week they have a dealer-only auction to sell the wholesale vehicles. and when an employee buys a car they tack on a fee so they can turn a little profit. i don't agree with that, but this z28 is much cheaper than any others i've found in the area.

But it might be cheaper to replace the tires that are already on the car. i forgot to mention, it would probably cost around $1000 to put tires on the vette rims. that's a lot of money for wheels i'd be selling as soon as i bought the car, lol. if i recall correctly, the wheels on the monte are 15x7 or 15x8 on the front and i think 15x10 on the rear. i hope this works. ;D

i've had a bunch of people already trying to buy them and i haven't bought the car yet. i'm getting new tires for the z06 wheels tomorrow, and on monday i'm buying the car. i'll just drive on the z06s until i figure out what i want instead. of course, i'm getting tires that are actually wide enough for the wheels so they won't look as weird.

i didn't actually put them on the car.. i wasn't sure if there was enough clearance for the tires, and i didn't want to pay the shop labor to find out it wasn't working. that's the downfall with our associate purchases.. you can't do any work yourself.

Hey, we all drift away from the Montes from time to time, I did it with the Fiero. That Camaro looks killer with those rims! Now that you have a cool reliable daily driver, start cracking on the SS! LOL!

LOL! after i move in august, the monte is finally going to get the attention it needs. until then it will probably just sit in storage. at least what's left of the body isn't exposed to the elements.
