ok so do any of the 3rd or 4th gen montes have a pneumatic trunk lifts?? like the shock ones?? if so how are they attached??

You know that is a good question! I believe 88 was the only year that lift shocks were used and they mounted between a welded arm under the package tray and then bolted to the hinge arms. I remember seeing it one time. But for the most part all G Bodies used the 2 torsion bars.

h ill have to look into that then... im working on a custom fiberglas enclosure thats going to take up that whole shelf.. and i want those torsion bars outa there so i have more room... other reason is im lookin into getting the auto trunk popper that goes into the glovebox so when i hit the button the trunk opens all the way automaticly.. hopefully i can find something..

Aerocoupes got them.
At one point it was like finding hen's teeth to find a set for an Aerocooupe trunk lid. But that's been corrected.

yeah but what im worried about is that the aero coupe is only half the size and weight of my lid..

I forgot the '81 Monte coupes got them.
I know for a fact cause I had to purchase & replace these on my girlfriend's '81 LC Monte.

dude do you have any pictures of it??? cuz i want to see how it was hooked up.... welded or bolted???

There are tabs on the body and the trunk lid.
The lift has holes on the ends with clips over them.
The holes & clips snap over top the tabs.
To remove the old lifts I had to pop them loose from the tabs. I think I used a screw driver?
Then to install the new lifts they just popped right on the tabs.
If I can manage, I'll take a couple pics of the car for you and post them.
