Hey Mike! I'm so glad you finally made your way over here. I know it's hard finding time, being a rock star and all, but it's great to see you and your Montes! By the way, feel free to post that "family" shot of all three Montes.

LOL! wish it was true, But sadly they come on other colors. But every now and then they do look better in something other than white, Like say a first gen Monte SS in triple Black or a sixth gen in Laser Blue, Even a third gen in a deep metallic red. But Something about white just makes it look that much better.....

Hey everyone, I've been busy, getting over a cold, and all the usual stuff. I'll try to give a quick rundown of both the Monte's. The Pearl 76 was bought by my dad about 1992, I think. He always liked these cars, my parents use to have a 75 Landau when I was 5yrs old, and my dad had a 74 or 75 cutlass all hot rodded when he was in high school. This car originally came in that "pale yellow", with tan/brown interior. It was all original when my dad got it, even with the factory hubcabs. He took care of it pretty good, it was even re-painted once (I think i was in the 5th grade), he always wanted it pearl white, but it didnt come out very good to say the least. When I was 15 going on 16yrs old, my dad told me that I could drive the Monte Carlo. I was already into cars then, but mainly Chevelles and Mustangs ( i was young, so what? haha) But I started looking up other Montes and realized how sweet these cars could be. I took care of it just the same, if not better then my dad did, and the summer before my senior year of high school, we had it sent away for another repaint. I worked all summer with my dad to pay him back and after 3 months the car was DONE, it had a sweet pearl white paintjob!! and for an eary graduation present my parents got me the set of American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels and new tires. I'm 23 now and a lot has changed with the car, with a lot more still to go. Some of the things that have been done since are: Chevrolet Performance ZZ4 350 engine, Hughes Performance 350transmission, long tube Hooker ceramic headers dual exhaust, 3.73 rear end gears, lots of miscellaneous small parts replaced, many with some NOS stuff that I tracked down over the years. As for stuff that I'm working on now, it's getting an all new BLACK interior. All I am waiting on is the carpet to arrive now, then I can start to put it all back together. I'm going to finish putting the insulation down today. I had the rear window removed, prepped, and resealed a while ago too, so no more leaky leaky! After the interior is finished (well as much as I can afford to do right now!) I have to get new tires, so in that process I'm going to get two wider wheels for the rear. After that I need to work on getting the front end kit, springs/shocks all done. We had this done in the two other Monte's we've had and they ride like a cloud!! I take tons of pictures all the time, so I will have to post some up of my current work when I get a chance.

Now onto the black 73...
After a couple years of me having the 76, my dad began to miss having an old car of his own, so I hit up the locals and ebay searching for another 73-77. He wanted one in black, and in pretty nice condition, leaving little to work on. I ended up finding the 73 we have now listed on ebay, located in Ohio, with 46k miles on it. It arrived in July of 2005 (if I remember right, the years are going by too fast!) Since then, my dad has had headers/magnaflow exhaust put on it, intake, holley double pumper, full msd ignition and some nice aluminum valve covers put on it. The interior is as mint as can be! and red! My dad has buffed the entire car out and it shines really nice, but I know that he would like to get it repainted along with the usual bodywork of aligning the doors, etc. for him to be perfectly happy with it. It's not as fast as mine, but it's definitely a car that still feels like you're back in 73 (yeah i was born in 85, so what? lol) Something funny that I found out later while going through Tommy2Bits Monte Carlo galleries, was a 73, black with red pinstripe monte carlo. with OHIO license plates on the front and many other things that make me think that this Monte is the same one on Tommy's site, pics sent in by the previous owner. I'll have to find them sometime.
I think that covers everything!! for now!!

Welcome. ;D Wow, nice cars. Is your car painted that Cadillac white diamond or whatever it's called? It's actually a 1997 Ford Performance White Metallic. It was used on the Thunderbirds. BUT, when I'm able to do a real detailed and final bodywork/paint job, It's either going to stay pearl (Chevrolet now makes a very nice pearl white!) OR I was thinking of the possibility of having it done in a dark red metallic with pearl pinstripes. Mike, here is that picture you requested! haha. You can even see the side of my mustang.... shhh..

Nice family shot, Mike. BTW, I hope you get over your current illness and get back to finishing up your Monte!! Hey Mike! I actually spent all of today working on it. I glued/taped in the insulation in the rear seat area by the window and down the sides, under the seat, behind the rear seat, taped down the insulation on the floor, and painted squares around the rear speaker holes black as to hide the yellow paint that you can see through the grilles of the rear shelf once its installed. I'm pretty much ready to go when the carpet comes this next week. After I get the driver side trimmed and the seat and shifter bolted back down, I'm taking it to an upholstry shop to have my headliner kit put in. I'd rather them do it right the first time, instead of me trying to do it myself. I put it in once, (clips only) and I can see that there is some extra work to do that I'd rather not risk messing up. It comes with extra material for the sun visors, so they can do that at the same time too. I'm also going to ask about prices for the seats and door panels while I'm there. They hooked up a friend of mine from work on his convertible top, so I'm hoping I can get a deal. After the interior is about done, I can get my two wider rear wheels, and a new set of tires. Then I'll see if there is any extra money to get the exhaust tweaked and customized with the removable cats that I've been wanting.. then I can FINALLY get the Holley double pumper and electric fuel pump put on. Just in time for summer cruising and car shows. I missed the Monte all last summer, and just in general. It needs put back on the road!!!

Hey everyone, I've been busy, getting over a cold Hmph ... that seems to be going around as I'm trying to get over a cold now, too . Enjoyed reading the history of your cars ... and, of course, I really like that family shot! IIRC, it was used as the home page pic for the yahoo group, right? Yes it was, Cort. Mike, what's that I see in the background, a RUSTANG?!?!?! For shame, for shame.... Mustangs were the other thing I always liked when I was 13/14yrs old. That little Rustang is a 97 and is just about to hit 27k miles, its like brand freakin new. The only thing I'm not use to is the lack of trunk space. I could fit a whole stack of guitar cases in the Monte, but the Mustang I have to struggle to get two, with the rear seat folded down. lol. I'm hoping to get exhaust, wheels, and possibly an old school Hurst short throw shifter for it soon. I cant leave anything stock, and the Mustang needs some toys too but only AFTER the Monte gets spoiled first!!!!!!

I'll open a "garage" in the other section later, and post pics of my interior progress! I got the carpet yesterday, it's laid in, but I'm letting it set for a while before I get cutting. Hopefully I can start on that tomorrow after work!

To tell you the truth, I've always wanted a 69-70 Boss 429 or even 302, or Mach 1, or normal sportsroof of those years, with a 428 SCJ or even a 427 SOHC... . Also, the next generation has grown on my a lot, and I wouldn't mind having one of those either (not a Grande, however). And since I was in junior high in about 1980 or so, I've wanted one of those 5.0s. So don't feel bad about coming out of the closet, Mike!

A guy that I know at work has a bunch of Mustangs. of the years you mentions, he has 3 69 machI's, two are original drivers, the other is being restored to match is 65 coupe, that thing is mint!!
but back to the Monte's, this isnt a Mustang forum! haha. I ordered my two rear wheels last night.. im going to try and finish the carpet tomorrow, get the driver seat in. and a couple lower rear panels. Take the two good wheels off, and clean them up, so that way when the two new rear wheels come, i can get tires asap.

It is beautiful, every part of that car is immaculate. It has black interior, buckets, console, the paint is red white stripes, has some American Racing wheels (I cant remember the model name, but they look sweet) and under the hood is orgasmic! haha.
