I just figured out that all those 2nd gen Montes are repainted. I don't know Hot Wheels as much, since I always collected Matchbox as a kid and later. So now it makes sense that Chris's collection comprises lots of "non-factory" Hot Wheels...LOL. And they look awesome! I like originality, so I haven't altered many of my die cast cars, except when I was a pre-teen I "restored" a Porsche 911 because we were doing that to my dad's 911 at the time, so I thought it would be cool to disassemble that silver 911 Turbo and repaint it (model paint, gold metallic, with red magic marker windows). I still have that today. Besides that, I painted a fleet of cars with a black magic marker to match the A-Team's vehicles, starting with that Chevy van, then I added a black Rolls Royce to the fleet thinking they'd need a nice limo to match the van, then an ambulance and another one or two. My brother and I played a lot with those cars, and I still have them today (well, lots were lost to attrition, but I have what's left). So, Chris, I probably will not treat your Montes to a repaint, but leave them in their "original, unrestored" condition and I do really appreciate them. If you ever come across some mint condition ones like in your first picture, I'd be happy to add them to my collection!

I never saw any second Gen Montes from Johnny Lightning. Post a close up pic RJ. All the ones I have are lowriders made by Revell and a few NASCAR ones.
By the way does anyone have Darrel Cartrip from the movie CARS? They did a great job on it, but it's painted Silver instead of being Chrome like in the movie.

Good memory, Chris! Indeed you sent me not only one, but two of the Revell lowriders, one blue metallic and one orange metallic. That was a year ago in my first group of parts you sent. It looks like I'm missing a purple metallic and whatever that is in the bottom right picture of yours. Last time I was in the States, I found two of the first generation lowriders; I forgot who made them but I think it was some kind of fancy Hot Wheels. At the same time I found a gold Hot Wheels 2nd generation in a normal package, with the hugely exaggerated front, like you have in the 8th picture of your first post. I didn't know they also made a black one; I'll have to get one of those.

I guess you're right. It is Revell and not JL. Dave, according the Pixar Cars web site there was more then one Monte depicted in the CARS movie. Anyone seen the chrome aerocoupe?

I have the Chrome Aerocoupe, actually 2 of them.
And I didn't see their website, I do know the Jr. car is a Monte also, but haven't seen it anywhere other than Ebay. As for the 2 opther G-body cars, I wasn't sure if they were Montes or not, they do resemble Montes, but also Regals and Cutlasses.

I've seen other people claim the lead car in the CARS movie was a Monte Carlo. I'm just not believing it since the CARS web site doesn't mention the car being a Monte.

By the way does anyone have Darrel Cartrip from the movie CARS? *grins* I do! And ... I bought one for my nephew . I have the Chrome Aerocoupe, actually 2 of them. Dangumit ... I don't have one of those yet . And I didn't see their website, I do know the Jr. car is a Monte also, but haven't seen it anywhere other than Ebay. As for the 2 opther G-body cars, I wasn't sure if they were Montes or not, they do resemble Montes, but also Regals and Cutlasses. See ... that's just the thing. Personally, I don't think any of those ARE MCs ... considering the detail they gave to the Cartrip car to make sure it looked like a MC, I can't imagine that the others ARE ... since the detail is obviously not there. I read somewhere that the Jr car is actually a 1st gen Lumina (1990-1994), which doesn't make sense to me. *shrugs* I stopped at Target today, I can't say it resembles any type of car, LOL! That's because it doesn't. The press release about "Cars" I read when that movie first came out was that the creators INTENTIONALLY made the "lead car" to NOT resemble ANY particular car on the road ... because they didn't want it "branded". However, since they wanted to make the movie "realistic", they made other cars (like the Hornet, Cartrip, Bob Cutlass, the Dinaco racer, the Cadillac, etc.) as particular models.
