Ok, The resonator on my 01 has started to split at the seam and I'm getting that fluttering exhaust leak. Also the downstream O2 sensor is settign a a code for poor perfromance. The car has that U-bend where the sensor goes. I'm thinking about having the U-bend pipe and resonator replaced with a straight pipe and having a Bung welded in for the new sensor.
My questions are, 1, how will this sound, since i'll be leaving the rest of the stock system in place and 2, Will I get any more performace out of it since I will be doing away with some restrictions. What do you all think?

IMO, sound will improve slightly, flow wont notice a difference but is well worth the effort just to let it breathe easier. Gains or not, I'd still do it since it needs fixed anyways.

Actually, I did forget to post the results here. But I did tell you Tim, taht day when I supposedly drove thru the lake.
Yeah, In October the U-bend and the resonator were cut out, A straight pipe installed with a Bung for the new O2 Sensor. The tone never really changed, but it does have a baffle noise when you rev it in park or neutral. And it seems to accelerate a bit quicker too. Not like anHP increase, but a less restiction increase.

DO NOT STRAIGHT PIPE!!!
it will will sound horrible trust me on this lol
replace the res and U-bend with a 32" long glass pack it will act as a res and get rid of the rasp/ bumble bee affect
and removle of the U-bend has shown 5 hp increase on a dyno with a stock L67 a N/A should be close

it really hasn't changed the tone, Just a baffle noise when I rev it over 2K in neutral or park. Since I don't have any reason to do that, I'm good with it

Cat is still in place. Couldn't pass NYS Inspecton without it. Well, I could, But I really don't want to loose my inspector's license or the $2500. to pay the fine if I'm caught
