Cort, I have been working on a 2009 review for a week now, but since you started this thread, I'll just add to it!
This year has been one I shall never forget, From the beginning to the end!
It all started in January, Hitting junkyards with Doug, Bryan, Matt looking for doors for Matt's SS.
Then ends in taking a 5 hour road trip to the Squizz's to get one! And standing in a steel garage
frame in 20 degree weather feeling like its 80 out thanks to a heater the size of a Toyota!
Fast forward to March, Tim and I take a drive to Syracuse to see a Monte that even though
Tim wouldn't buy, It was worth the trip just for the laugh! Always be suspicious when the
ad says "Fresh Paint!"
My Sporter Rifle team finishes up the season, taking 1st place in our division.
2 weeks later still laughing, Matt and I joined Tim and Jim's Families in Erie PA for a
weekend of fun! Nothing like spending an afternoon on water slides in the middle of winter, LOL!
Then one week later Tim, Matt and I headed back to the heart of PA to look at 3 Montes for Tim.
Thus the first installment of Monte Hunters, as well as Tim buying the most unique green 88 Monte SS!
April, and Matt brings home his SS for the first time in paint after 6 months! I couldn't have been prouder!
The Motley Cruisers head to Rochester for the first Club gathering of the year.
May comes And I thrash to get the 86 SS done for the Sea Pirate show. This was a show that I just had to do!
It was a pleasure to finally meet Tony, Anthony, Mike, Jerry and so many other members of the different Monte
Carlo boards.I just wish it was closer so I could do it every year!
Matt's car is finished and on the road!
Now it's June and the Motley cruisers have their first Cruise Night of the year and have over 30 cars!
It's a success or so We thought, sadly it went down hill from there.
the Steet Machines of Rochester show! The Motley Cruisers are part of their largest show ever!
July and Matt graduates from high school with an Advanced Regents Diploma!
Joe,his son Mike, Matt and I attend the Buffalo Central terminal show. This is one show I have been wanting to do for years!
Not to mention seeing one of Buffalo's oldest historical as well as haunted sites.
August and it's time for Binghamton! Meeting Matty, and seeing everyone again was great! Matt's car was a hit!
Sad that Joe smoked his transmission, but the rest of the time was well worth it! Hopefully more WNYr's can
make it next year.
One week later Were back off to the Junkyards again! Doug Bryan, Tim, Matt and I had a lot of fun.
Then it happens! Tim finds "The CD"! And who would have thought it would have been so uncomfortable
driving back to Buffalo with a gas tank in the car? LOL!
Off to Ohio! The Motley cruisers went to the Summit Racing All Chevy Show, where we Met up with our friend
Bob and his wife Deanna. Of course they may never want to see us again! LOL! Remember this is weekend #4 in a row
that Tim and I were hanging out and were geting really goofy.
August 22nd,My 41st birthday, the Monte Hunters make another Junkyard trip. Looking for Matty's door panel, we came
up empty, but found a ton of little parts, including Stu's door lens! Even in the rain we had fun! Of course, Tim
still believes I drove through a lake just to get him wet. Not true! I was dry! LOL!
September! And the Monte Hunters Season 1 comes to an end! Olcott Beach with over 1000 cars! Could not have
asked for a better day!
A week later and were up to it again! LOL! Tim and Clint make the run in from Rochester to spend the day at the
Buffalo VA hospital car show, That same Evening Matt and I head to the Lakeshore Volunter Firemans benefit Cruise
Where Joe and Doug cruised in later on with their kids.
The joke of the day! How could anyone forget? Tim and I pull off one of the greatest jokes ever on Mrs.Doc. With the
help of Jay, we sent the CD to Tommy, so MD wouldn't see it. Jay then picked it up from Tommy and put it in her car
that morning.Apparently MD was startled. I only wish I was able to get a video of it.Even 3 months later MD is still
laughing, of course she just found out they all have names.....
Halloween! My favorite Holiday, Too bad the weather was so bad, couldn't do everything.
November and one last blast to the Junkyards in Rochester on Tim's Birthday no less. The Tim and Dave show debuts!
And we haven't been the same since.
Plus Monte Carlo City revival hits it's one year mark!
Now it's December! and Were off to Long island for the annual NYMCC Christmas party! Who gets up at 4AM for
a Christmas party?? 2 idiots from WNY and their families! But it was so worth it! Defineatly on the list of
things to do in 2011!
Now this year was a lot of fun, But there were some hard times as well, My mother being diagnosed with breast Cancer
and then the Surgery, My grandmother falling and ending up having Eye Surgery, Spending so much time working on my parents
and grandmothers houses that mine was negelected, running into financial problems the end of this year, My schedule
and responsibilities changing and not being able to hang out with Doug, Joe and the other Cruisers as much as I'd like,
and a few other issues. But all in all, I did accomplish a lot more than I would have expected.
A Very Special Thanks to Doug, Joe, and Tim for a great year, and thanks to everyone else who joined Matt and Myself in
our adventures this year. 2009, You have given us some great memories, But lets hope 2010 is even better!!!
