Gathering poll!; interest in a 2010 midwest event?

I have no plans to arrange any 2010 gatherings; however, several people have asked me if any are in the works and why no announcements have been made. Thus...:

1 ... What draws your interest in a gathering?

2 ... What keeps your interest in a gathering for you to attend as planned?

3 ... Are you interested in a MidSummer Chitown gathering in Elgin IL, July TwentyTen?


Depending on the responses, I may arrange a July 24 (or 31) gathering, in Elgin IL, for MULTIPLE boards (car- and heart-related, etc.), starting at 11a with a short drive ... and lasting into the evening.

you know Cort, I really need to get out your way one day. The problem is, Financially right now I am strapped! This year I am cutting my road trips and car show schedule in half.and it's only January! I'm hoping that in the next few years I'll be able to make it to a gathering by you.

In answer to your questions:

1) Lots of cars! perferbably Monte Carlos and Impalas.

2) friends! or the ability to meet friends that I have only met online.

3) Yes, But not this year

Looks like we have SOME interest in this, sssooo I've spoken with my contact at Steak'n'Shake; we can hold the gathering there again. However ... I'll check out other places along Randall Rd / US Route 20.

...save SATURDAY, JULY 24, 2010 ... just in case. My vision for the gathering: start at 11a, with a brief drive, then back to Steak'n'Shake (or gathering restaurant/area) for lunch and meet'n'greet the rest of the day/evening....

If my math serves me correctly, ~40 people from ~15 different groups/boards have indicated an interest in the MidSummer Chitown Gathering #3. Not too bad, but that's about 3 people per board....



IF this happens, it...

...will be at Steak'n'Shake (other restaurants/facilities are in the immediate area if you want to eat somewhere else)

...most-likely will be July 24

...will start ~10:30a, with a brief cruise around some "back roads" in the area starting at 11a, returning to Steak'n'Shake ~noon or 12:30p for lunch and meet'n'greet the rest of the day



If I plan this, I will post a NEW topic in a few weeks..... So, if you're interested ... speak up NOW!!!

Thanks, Dave! I hope so, too. But, it's going to take more than me just posting about it. I sure hope it gets "talked up" on other forums. Otherwise, it could end up like last year (less than 20 people) instead of like the first year (65 people)....
