Some of you may recall the argument I've had with myself over salvaging the 71 Monte that's been sitting untouched (and rotting) in my Dad's yard since.. I don't know, 1993? It was parked due to a blown transmission and quickly forgotten, and time has not been kind to this car. At some point over the years the driver front wheel disappeared and never returned. Since my Dad passed, I've been wanting to fix this car up and give it back to Mom. The reason why I want to save it is because it was my Mom's car back in the 80's (til my parents separated and Dad wanted it back). She carted me and my 2 older brothers around in it. In November, I got up close to take some pictures and it was pretty discouraging. I told her how bad the car was, and she assured me that it didn't mean anything to her anymore and she didn't want it. Things are progressing somewhat with my Dad's house, and it was looking like the car would end up being scrapped. Well, she confessed to my brother recently that the car does in fact mean a lot to her, and she wants us to fix it. So I figured I'd share with you guys, and you can see how insane we are in our (long term) project to save Mom's car. I say long term because we have to pull it out of the yard to figure out the damage and start collecting parts.... so the SS will likely be taken care of first since I already have most of what I need to put it together.
