Very Cool race! Yeah, the clothes back then, the big blocks, the side burns, all things that have gone by the ways side in the 70's!
Bobby Allison's Coke Machine was the most famous Monte Carlo in racing until Dale Earnhardt's Black AeroCoupe in the late 80's.
If i rememeber correctly, Cort, your friend has a replica of that Monte??

Cort, I don't forget them either, but the thing is I had no idea what car your friend's Monte is a replica of! LOL. I have never followed Nascar, and I was only 4 years old when that car raced and we didn't even have a TV in the house until my senior year of high school (1986) so how was I to know of that bad-a$$ wicked race car?  I hope Kevin has a nice souped up big block in that beast to do it justice! LOL. |

LOL! Mike, if it makes you feel any better, I really wasn't completely aware of the significance of it until I started researching it as Kevin put that car together. I had seen it in its VERY early stages during my August 2005 road trip. At the time, it still was basically just a shell and an idea ... and Kevin was so hyped about it! So, it was a particular treat for me when he revealed it to me during my November 2007 road trip. That was one of the reasons why I took the southern route that year ... to finally see Kevin's completed replica IN PERSON. I had seen pics of it, but I wanted to see it LIVE! As for what engine he has in it, embarrassingly, I don't remember off hand...lol.
