Yeah, right. Worked today. I volunteer for this holiday so I can have others off. Hadn't drank in so long, may have to give it another try in 2011/2012. Just for the one night.

I almost wished I did work today. My wife did and Matt was working on a side job in the garage. I was kindo just by myself. I ended up racing my slot cars for a few hours to keep myself amused, LOL!

Matt? Side job? I thought that was your space. Maybe you rented him the garage for the day.
Is your garage heated? It wasn't bitter cold, but it still keeps me out of the garage mostly. Although I do plan on putting the engine/trans back in on Wednesday.

LOL! Yeah Your nephew has taken over the spot in the garage! Boy will he have some explaining to do if there is any primer on my SS! I do have a radiant heater in there, Works pretty good for side jobs, but not for anything like restoring a car all winter. I have to finish the insulation and drywall one of these years, do some paint work and get a larger heater.
Mike, Glad your not parting with a Monte, That Poloneze was in really nice shape! And I'm really digging that rally car!!! LOL!

Thanks, guys. The car is an FSO Polonez from February 1980. Production started in May 1978, so this is a very early example, and almost certainly the best and most original example in existence. Hence the extremely high selling price (from a Polish collector car market point of view); it is without a doubt the highest price ever paid for an early Polonez, perhaps double any previous record. I hate to sell anything but I still have 4 very interesting examples (and some, namely the very rare 3-door prototype, will go on the block in a couple months), and I'd rather sell them into a rising collector car market than sell the Montes, or wait till the coming global economic and financial ruin negatively affect sale prices. In any case, there's no doubt that Montes are superior cars by far, offer much higher quality and fun to drive factors, and worldwide reputation which should boost long-term value. My white 73 would be the last one I'd consider selling, because it's basically perfect and my favorite year, and the red 74 Y-code sunroof Landau I'd hate to get rid of, since it truly is a collector's dream with exceptionally rare options and this is the stuff collector cars are made of. I just hope that one day our beloved mark becomes more accepted and appreciated by the general collector market, because so far, they just dump on our cars like they're somebody's red-headed step-child, when in fact, as we all know, they rule!! How can people love the dog-ugly Malibus and value them ten times higher than the very similar (mechanically) Monte Carlo? Whatever. At least it allows us to not be priced out of the market completely, so perhaps that's a blessing in disguise. PS; Dave, that yellow racing Polonez is called the Strato-Polonez and is a very famous car. It was built and raced by Poland's team and has an engine from the Lancia Stratos mounted in back. Still, I think a nice 350 on a Monte frame would considerably outperform that car..... I'm still keeping one Polonez with that conversion in mind... LOL

Well, gald you made a good chunk of change for it. And I would love to see more pics of that race car.
By the way, do they make any die cast of those cars?? I'd like to buy one for my collection.

I don't ever plan on "growing up". Mature? Sure. Get old. Don't think so
