So this was a topic on the former monte site, figured its a good one to start again. So I am willing to bet almost everyone on here has been stopped by a member of law enforcement at some point in time, tell us about it! When was it? What did you do? Ticket or not? Funny stories are even better!! Ill start it off with one of mine: On my way home from six flags with two of my friends. It was 10pm which I know is shift change for this particular jurisdiction, so I figured I was safe to speed up a little since there would be no cops on the road right? Wrong right as I go to pass this slow minivan I noticed a cop right in front of her! So I slowed down to 40mph (posted 35mph). The cop pulled me over. Before he got up to the car, my friend in the backseat was trying to get the pair of fuzzy handcuffs she just bought off. She wasnt quick enough, all you see was the flashlight do a double take. Needless to say I got let go with a verbal warning!!

My girlfriend was pulled over on her way home from her part-time job about two weeks ago. Her side of the story goes like: I went to pass a car while entering a curve. The cop was coming the other way and saw her. He did a U-turn and lfew up behind her then pulled her over. First I know it's not illegal to pass a car entering a curve. As long as the road in this area isn't marked with a solid yellow line. And I'll bet that's what got her pulled over. Having said that. Many drivers drift over a solid line entering a curve on to the opposite side of the road. Including the cops. I personally do not. I've been hit head on before and it hurts.

Well, I have told this story before, But To date this ws my shinning moment!
back in the late 80's I had My 74 Monte with a fresh Small block 400. It just ran past the 500 mile break in period, A friend of Dougs and mine were out cruising and we decided to see what it could do. The 990 just opened up and we cruised the length checking for cops, We then turned around and wound it up. As we came around a bend I see a State trooper just seting up. I slowed down, but he caught me, I just pulled over and handed him my license, record of convictions, insurance card and regestration. He looked at my stuff, saw I had a clean license, and Asked, "if I had a clue to how fast I was going". My answer was " I'm sory Officer, My Speedometer only went to 85" He then threw my stuff back at me, Told me I was clocked at 142 mph and to sit there for the next 5 minutes and when he returned I could go. That was the longest 5 minutes of my life!
ever since My friend asks me if I crapped out that horseshoe yet!

Back in the early 80s I had a 74 Nova SS. One Fri. eve. I needed to get to the speed shop to get some parts for the carb. I had stopped by the babysitters house to pick up my daughter and got caught talking to long. Darn need to make up some time before I miss getting to the speed shop. I was lighting them up, rolling thru stop signs and just really was being a menice. I hit this one stretch in an industrial area 'bout 3\4 miles long. I had long since buried the needle. Got to the stop sign and kind of did a sliding right hand turn. I got to the speed shop and got out of the car and around to the pass. side when this big ole black sheriff stepped up and asked for the pertinant paper work. When hecame back over to the car he said " I don't know haw fast you were going because I didn't have my radar on. What's your hurry?". i told him that I really needed to get to the speed shop before they closed. He stuck his head in the car looking for seat belts for my daughter. They were there. He stepped back and asked where the passenger seat was. I just told him that I didn't need one and that it was extra weight. As he turned to walk away he handed me my paper work, smiled and said that you need to slow it down. There had to be a puddle on the ground from all of the sweating that I was doing. Because of the same car and my driving habits I got an escort every morning and evening to the city limits in the little town that I was living in. I guess my rep. preceded me as well as some of my antics in their jurisdiction.

Cool stories.... Mine .... I was sssooo pissed ... at the time. Spring (April, I believe) 2003 ... just a few months after my January 6, 2003 open heart surgery. First day out for the older 4 MCs. I had driven the '72, '76 and '79 and was on my way back with the '81 for the day. On a whim, I decided to drive the '81 MC SC "just a bit farther" because it was sssooo nice out. So, I drove down a road I've driven since I put my MCs out west of Elgin to store. Problem was ... the county (or city, not sure which) had JUST lowered the speed limit a month prior from 55 to 45. I forgot. As I crested the a hill along that road I happened to look down and notice a sedan parked along the side of the road. Woops. I slowed as best as I could, but I got pulled over. d**n. Ah, well. I received a ticket (ironic ... received a SPEEDING ticket in my SLOWEST MC) and had to take a class to keep it off my record. I actually enjoyed the class ... learned more in that class than I had previously about driving..... I took one of those classes once for doing 90 in a 45. This was before moving violations got expensive in Fl. Now the class costs as much as the ticket. Anyway the class was 8 hrs. long and filled with people with DUIs and multiple DUIs. Then of course there are those with the dumb *** questions which really bore the H out of me. jsut shut up and show some more of those darn accident movies.
