Hi Folks! First off, let me tell y'all about my first Monte, and how my love affair got started. Way back in early 1989 I needed a safe, reliable car to commute back and forth to college in Michigan, so I looked in a local north Chicago suburb newspaper and found a small ad for a 73 Monte, so my mom and I went to take a look. I didn't even know what a 73 Monte looked like! But this was a super nice original Monte with 104,000 miles on it and everything factory and original, down to the perfect midnight green paint and interior with swivel buckets and sport guages and suspension, and an electric sunroof!! The price was right so I drove it home. It served as my daily driver for 6 years, till the day it was stolen from my driveway in Huntsville, Alabama in July 1994. That was a major bummer, and I'm still the owner of it and still looking for it (or rather, dreaming of finding it). It was the coolest looking car I've ever owned, but more importantly, the most reliable and comfortable one as well. Here's one of the very few pics I have of it: If you have ever seen this car, please call the police and notify me; it is stolen and I still have title and ownership (albeit, only 10% due to the old rule that possession is 9/10s... ).

Thanks; this is the car that introduced me to Montes, and was the best car I've ever had. It only broke down on me twice; once when the timing chain broke and I had to rebuild the engine, and once when the starter died and I replaced it in the very parking lot where it broke down. In other words, an extremely reliable car, in temperatures ranging from 30 below zero to over 100. I took this car on many cross-country voyages, and at very high speeds. It was extremely comfortable, nice-handling, and safe. It was stolen from my driveway while I was at work in Huntsville, Alabama on July 27, 1994.

I found a picture I took back in December, 1989 somewhere in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan where my brother and I were taking a ski vacation. It was -30 F the whole trip and the Monte started up every time and never gave us any trouble. It was great driving on those snow-packed roads too because they didn't use a bit of salt, just sand thrown down. It was fun sliding around corners and stuff.

It was cold, alright, even for a Niew Yawkuh, huh? LOL Minus 30 is cold but that Monte never let me down, ever. That's one of the reasons I think these cars are the best in the world.

My mom found another shot I didn't even know about - when we were visiting my younger brother at West Point in 1990. It was such a special occasion (or I was feeling sorry for him) that I even let him drive:
