Thanks guys, I am so proud of him! I stopped at his school for a Q&A meeting about him going to the state competition next week. Tried to check out the car, but the shop was blacked out and locked. Keith, I guess his teacher sprayed the nose, the fender extensions and the rear bumper cover with an epoxy type primer that is made for flexable parts, He did it as a demonstration to the class, the rest of the car was sprayed with a thicker type primer. So I guess things are going in the right direction. Oh and He finally remembered to remove the rear trunk seal the seat belt releases (didn't matter their broken anyways) and a few other things I asked about. LOL! He asked why they are going to be replaced anyways, I told him yeah, but if the new parts don't sit in the exact same place, it will show old paint, You could see the light bulb turn on in his head, LOL! The quarter windows, not a big deal, the trim needed to be repainted anyways, it was faded and ugly looking, The Strikers where rusty, so they cleaned and primed them. Well, today they mixed a batch of the blue and sprayed a junk panel, I guess they added a bit more pearl to it and it pops out! Dumbass forgot his camera today, but they are supposed to spray the door jambs and some other areas tomorrow. Camera is int he truck so I know he won't forget to take it! LOL!

Can't wait to see it. It's pretty bad when we have this much anticipation over someone else's car. Maybe I should get out in the garage and unbury mine.

LOL! Cort you need to stay healthy! Heh ... easier said than done . Please tell Matt GOOD LUCK for me for the competition this week! And ... thanks for posting the most-recent pics ... car is looking GREAT!!!! It's pretty bad when we have this much anticipation over someone else's car. Heh ... true enough. Sadly, happens to me all the time..... *shrugs* But, I'm not one for doing work on my cars. Should I? Probably. But the technical and body work aspects have NEVER interested me ... and I've never lied or mis-represented myself as such. Still, I know a number of people (no names mentioned, of course) look down on/ignore me for NOT doing any of that stuff. Ah, well ... whatever. Just because I don't do any of that doesn't mean I can't admire and keep an eye on others' projects ... and be just as eager to see the results as everyone else....... And, Dave ... got your Email earlier tonight ... and replied. I'll try to check in more often, but no promises . Cort, we've been through this before. You don't have to work on cars to be an enthusiast or appreciate them. On the flipside, a deep pocket doesn't make you an enthusiast either. Appreciation, respect, admiration and tons of other words I can think of make someone a car enthusiast. No need to even own a car to be an enthusiast. Now we all come here to talk cars, Monte or otherwise and I would say that we are all enthusiasts. Including Matt. May be young, but with the work he has put into his Monte along with "some" of the other students, I would classify them as an enthusiast. Or maybe it's just Teacher's pet. We'll have to ask Dave about that.
Any more pics of the Monte Dave? Please don't tell me he painted it White. He may never get it back if he does.

LOL! Very well said Keith, You don't need to work on your car to appreciate them, But you should atleast know about your car. The Deep pockets don't, I see way too many people showing up with brand new Mustangs, Corvettes and even street rods that were built for them. They think they are car guys, but they have no idea what they have other than the car itself. Keith, Matt has been a car guy for a long time, He goes to shows cruises and has ben able to identify different cars since he was 5. He was looking for a car to buy since he was 14! So he's truely a car guy. The other guys, I can't make comments on since I don't know them. Nope, Not white, against my better judgement Pics hopefully tomorrow, he has the doors on! But Wednesday, Thursday and Friday he will be in competition. And that could mean a full ride to College!

Best ofr luck to him. College would be huge help for him, his future, and the scholarship would help your pockets. Can't wait to see pics and let him know we r pulling for him.
It helps that he has a Monte of course.

I'm not creepy! Oh, man. I like thta Blue. Looks about the shade that my 82 was painted. Can't wait to see more color pics. Too bad he didn't remove the strikers, though. Its just threads into the door post IIRC. Oh well. Still looks great. Better than my paint job. I'll start crating mine for delivery. I'll take it in a Silver Mist with some White ghosted into it. A ghost Monte logo at the bottom of the door would be allright with me. Just shhot me an address and I'll have it dropped off.
Or I could just get it running and drive it it up. What's another Monte hanging around for the Summer anyways? Right?

LOL! Better wait a few years, We need to find a shop someplace. He has My truck, and two other Montes lined up first, then crate it on over! And I'll see what I can do to get it running The strikers are no big deal, they were rusty anyways, Maybe If I come across a new set some day, We can swap them over later on. And the Blue is 06-07 Laser Blue with a few extra drops of pearl, the pictures don't even come close to the true color. Much more of a purple in it

Painting a car is still considered a learning experience. So.....my vote is that you are an even greater parent for allowing him to learn.

Oooooh. Now we need to see a reassembled pic with your wheels on it. Or u can help him blast the paint on the factory wheels and then polish, polish, polish, polish, polish, polish and more polishing until they look like chrome.

Thanks, rj. He's loving it, And Keith he has his own wheels that will look good on it. Well, Until he can afford the ones he wants. Last Night he was searching the house for the SS emblems we have. he can't wait until they go on. Has anyone seen a 4th gen with 06 Holden Maonaro SS emblems like these on it before?
