well, when the weather finally broke last spring, Matt and I had a chance to power wash under the hood and start cleaning it up a bit. He was off all week so he worked on it when he could. He stripped the inner fenderwells and some of the front motor pieces. Then painted the block, some brackets and the firewall. Matt spent the day pulling the other wheel well, cleaning the radiator support and firewall with a wire brush on a drill and as sander. After I got home, he swapped the valve covers, installed a few other things, I finished the ignition wires and other wiring, painted the firewall and started cleaning everything else. Matt worked his A$$ off, reinstalled the fenderwells. and installed the alternator and heater hoses. I finished up the wiring and mounted the battery and cables, installed the fan shroud and adjusted the belts.

Body work time! Matt has been knocking out a lot of the basic body work, when the weather is decent. And we updated the dash. Thanks to Doug for the parts, we ditched the old fake wood look and intalled the 86-88 panels. Plus we installed a new (new to him anyways) JVC stereo, and Pioneer rear speakers. here are some pics of the dash. Redneck Rumbleseat! A few weeks ago, the driver's seat track ripped through at the stud, I used an oversized washer to hold it down for a bit. Thanks to Mikes87ssgp, on Tony's other site, We got a new set of seat tracks, They arrived and by the time I got home from work, he had them wire wheeled, ground the rough rust, primed and painted. We took out the seats (make a huge mess!) We scrapped the headliner board and then vacuumed the crap up, then reinstalled the seats and detailed the interior. I spoke to his Shop class teacher last month, he said My son has improved a lot since he started there and that as soon as he's done with a bed side on one of the teachers trucks, he gets to start on his car. This should work out great! 1 less car to move all winter, LOL! And this brings this project up to date! Matt's car is in the shop now and he has his "crew" working on it.

Nice solid project. Looks like u ditched the line lock, too. I spy a non A/C heater box. If it ever disappears, u know where it went. Tell him nice choice in going to a black engine. Looks better. Body is looking better, too.
BUT, what is that hat doing on the trans tunnel? J/K
Thats a lot of Coke, too. Drink more water. I've been soda and caffeine free for a good while and man what a difference.

LOL! That non A/C box is staying! He really enjoys telling people the air works great in his car 2X55! LOL!
When we removed the center console, the front box for the ashtray was cracked and falling apart, so we removed it. Now there is the mounting bracket there thats welded to the floor. So the easiet thing to do was throw the hat there. Besides, the hat was one the first thing he won with the car at a cruise.
Oh we stock up when it's on sale! And I do mean stock up! LOL! Yeah I know, I have cut down, way down! From more about 10 cans a day to less than 5 now. I have been drinking a lot of lemonaide all summer and Water before bed. But the Coke rewards deal hasn't been the same, LOL!

Here are some update pics, matt and his crew at scholl have been working pretty hard! he repaired the only hole in the trunk, after metal patching it they used Lions hair to smooth it out. right side showed more issue than it looked, I guess they sand blasted the rust inside the hole and then sealed it with something left side getting close Roof lines coming in nicely Mistakes happen, I guess they didn't add the proper amount of hardner and it was soft, they chipped it all off and started again from scratch. Cool project. Your son is close to my nephew Matt's age. He will be 19 on Dec, 27th. (his mom was a New Year's baby but that was in 1955)
Nice to see your son has an interest in cars.
Dave, I used to work with a guy who said his doctor told him caffeine was collecting in his legs making them hurt. The cause was drinking too much pop. Coke to be exact. Which I happen to drink. Just not a lot.

RJ, my son Matt is 17, so they are close.
I'm glad he does too, it keeps him off the streets and out of trouble.
I drink a lot of coke, but my legs never bother me, My back does, but that's because of being bent over fenders all day long.

LOL! Your just realising that! Yeap! been a Mechanic for 23 years ASE certified and more than 1000 hours of other training. Doug, they patched it with resin cloth and fibreglass. I guess it's just about done, He's taking the camera again tomorrow. Yeah the hood is shiney, but not in the nice way, LOL! And I just found out tonight, The Woman who is in charge of the KenTon BOCES, wants to put the progress pictures in the main foyer as a display for future students to see what can be done if they work hard. She saw the before pics and the way it looks today, She was impressed. I'm a proud father!
