Oh man that looks great!!!! Funny how sometimes simple things get put off for years and then when they are done, you wonder why you didn't do it earlier. I know when I did my interior over a period of 10 years, I was amazed. for me, it just wasnt the right time yet to do the entire interior. I did have the carpet done once after I got it painted, but it needed replaced badly. When it came to the Monte, I was always doing something else, brakes, the entire drive train!! etc, but I always kept EVERYTHING in mind. That is why I bought the black interior plastic off ebay about 3 or 4 years ago and just put it in storage. I saw it for sale as an entire package and I knew that it was a rare thing to find. I do still need a couple parts tho, driver side kick panel in black, and the lower piece of the door jamb trim in black. I'll post some pics in the wanted section later. I think I lost/misplaced my coat hooks that I had, but since the headliner is new, there isnt an existing hole, so I could just leave them out. Its not like I ever use them, but for originality sake, I might put them back in.

Leaving those coat hooks off gives it a smooth look too, But I would keep them around just in case.

I got most of the interior put back in today, but I'm going to drop the seats off in a couple weeks once I decide on a pattern. The new tires were put on today, it looks pretty sweeeet. I'll post pics later.

I'm hoping to drop my seats off the first week of April, I just really need to get to work deciding on a pattern and how I want to put some medium tone gray in there.

Mike, I like the looks of that rear rubber!! Can you give us some shots of how the rim itself looks from the side? I bet it's killer. Your stance is virtually identical to my white 73 now. Your car looks awesome!

Your car looks awesome! I definitely have some pics to take later with the new stance. I have the air shocks empty so it sits stock height in the rear. I'm hoping that it sits the same once I get the suspension done and put regular shocks in it. I just finished some little work on the stereo, alergies have gotten me today, and I'm exhausted. I'll post some pics later tonight.

I got the remainder of the rear panels installed, set the back seat in place, but didnt bolt it down yet. Driver side seat is bolted down along with the seat belt. I still need a black driver side kick panel, and the driver side lower door jamb "L" trim in black, if anyone has any extras they wouldnt mind selling. I'm going to put some money aside next check, and hopefully get the seats done soon. Does anyone have any HIGH RESOLUTION pictures of their nice looking, black, bucket seat/console interiors? preferably ones that show off the seats, rear, and front buckets spun out. I'd appreciate it I need something to photoshop and come up with ideas for the two tone.

I only really dig the white on my car because its Pearl, otherwise white is just plain for a showy kind of car, thats my opinion anyway. Certain colors will always bring out the lines in a car, and some colors look better on certain cars. Even though I'm still a ways away with getting the body done for a final time, Ive thought a lot about painting it something other than pearl white...
I got my printer working, so I'm going to take some pics to the upholstery shop tomorrow and see what we can do.

My old tan interior was the original, except for the carpet and the tops of the seats, although I did have the original carpet for quite a while too, but after getting the car painted in 2002, the carpet made it look pretty shabby. All of my '76 MC's interior is the original black. Funny thing is, I swore I'd NEVER get a black car ... and here I am ... not only black, but TRIPLE black ... lol. Your '76 is looking mighty fine ... saw the new pics ... AWESOME! Black is the hardest to take care of, but it looks the best. I love a sweet mint black paint job, and just the right amount of chrome to go along with it.
I'm hoping to finish a few things on the Monte soon still before I start going house hunting. The Monte might have to be put on hold for a bit in a couple months, but at least I'll have a garage to keep it safe.

I think that stance looks just about right from the side, but I'd prefer to have it lowered about 2" front and back with those size tires.

The seats are at the upholstry shop getting torn down, I'm going in this next week to go over some colors, patterns, and materials to pick out. I'm going to ask that they do the driver seat first so I can drive the car again at least sooner than I would if I waited for all the seats together.
Sat morning around 2am, it rained here for the first time in months, and it POURED!! CRAZY rain!!! My Monte is sitting outside, and I was so worried that water would leak in somewhere. I got up in the morning to check it, and all my work trying to fix the leaks must have paid off! It was dry! and had there been a night that it was going to leak, that would have been it! I'm excited about that!

Congrats. A water leak is aggravating to say the least. If it poured and it stayed dry then you should be good to go. Too bad u couldn't have driven it in the downpour.

Yeah, A downpour will show you a leak really fast! So does a car wash, But we never take our Montes through car washes right? LOL!

Yeah, A downpour will show you a leak really fast! So does a car wash, But we never take our Montes through car washes right? LOL! Nope. Especially as detailer, I dont take anything nice through a carwash, as far as people personal rides go anyway. and definitely not my own!! I was thinking in the mean time, I might get some chrome valve covers, and those new header gaskets I need... since I still dont have seats.

Black is the hardest to take care of, but it looks the best. I love a sweet mint black paint job, and just the right amount of chrome to go along with it. *nods* Agreed. Sadly, my '76's paint job isn't mint anymore ... and wasn't from the day I bought it. Hairline cracks in it ... particularly on the roof. Not noticeable from a distance to MOST people ... but definitely noticeable to me ... if only because I KNOW they are there. *shrugs* I know a few people who'd be bothered as all get out by that ... but, not me. Why? Because ... if my cars were THAT nice ... I wouldn't drive 'em much. And, frankly, I want to DRIVE them . Same here Cort, Never wanted another black car, But the 01 is black and it looks dirty most of the time, even after I wash and wax it. Heck ... that '00 Lumina LS coupe I had ... that dark green color ... holy crap ... I don't know what I was thinking getting that dark of a color for a daily driver. *rolls eyes* When it was dirty ... yucko. Though, on the flipside, when it was clean ... it looked sharp. Though ... heh ... I remember at one of the MC Nationals it attended ... some guy looked at it close ... noticed the tree sap on the hood ... looked me straight in the eye and said, "What the hell is this car doing at this show?" (Mind you, I, like I always do, had it parked in the "Wash and Show" category.) I didn't have a good answer for him...but not for the reasons he was thinking, I'm sure . he he *pauses* I wonder how that maroonish color GM had recently stands up to the "dirt test". I suppose a silver would be best.... *shrugs* A water leak is aggravating to say the least. Amen. I do have one in my '76 ... the passenger side of the trunk floor always gets wet when I wash it. I simply open the trunk and let it air dry after I'm done. Perhaps not the best thing to do .... . So does a car wash, But we never take our Montes through car washes right? LOL! Sadly, I take the '87 MC LS/CL through the car wash during the winter.... But, that one is the only one that sees the inside of a car wash....
