Doesn't someone make a chrome radiator cover for the Chevelles? Would that work on the 2nd gen Montes as well?

I dont want to get too crazy, but valve covers, master cylinder lid, and yes, the chevelle radiator chrome cover fits too. After that its all about cleaning and replacing every little screw, hose clamp, hose, strap, clip, etc that I can find! It makes a world of difference.

I like the boring look myself. Dont know why. Thats why I paint engines black.
The shifter "SS" logo. That looks newer. Maybe like a 4th gen Camaro style SS Logo.

The SS shifter button is out of a 73 SS Chevelle or El Camino. They are really hard to find, and I've wanted one for years. It's not in mint shape, but it'll do! I'd like to track down a NOS Monte Carlo button, mine has faded just as the emblems do, they are suppose to red also.

I did some more work this weekend with my friend Jim! We finally got the 650 Holley and the electric fuel pump installed, they have been sitting around for about two years, lol. I sacrificed having a choke for better performance, this carb/pump setup SCREAMS! Its super responsive and is night and day from the old setup. I also got a sweet new Chevrolet air cleaner, ill take some pics tomorrow.

Nice looking carb!
Did you install the electric fuel pump with fuel injection in mind as a later upgrade? What's next - digital fuel injection on a Procharger?

nah, I think its going to stay old school, and carb'd for good. Maybe someday I'll have another old car with modern upgrades, but the Monte stays old school I think I'm going to dress up the motor a little bit next, the exhaust redone, and get the suspension upgraded next. Whenever I can afford it. Mike, I have a few 74 specific parts that I found while unloading some boxes at my new house yesterday. If you're interested, let me know, your sunroof 454 monte is a 74, right? I'm slowly getting into my stored car parts and I'm going to be selling off a few of the extras. Just add that to my busy "to do" list! lol

Drix That looks great!! That carb is too nice to cover with an air cleaner! Great job. Now one workd of concern, mount the fuel pump in the trunk like that is a little unsafe in my opinion. Just me, But I never liked the idea of gas flowing through the interior of a vehicle. What I would atleast do is replace that section of rubber fuel hose with braided stainless hose. Just as a precaution.
And I'm glad the new mods woke the car up, thats always the best feeling!

Mounting it under the car was a concern with the travel of the suspension, and the wear it would take from dirt and debris. The rubber line is temporary, and replacing it with steel braided is in the plan. We just needed to get it installed and only had a day to do it. I'm not 100% thrilled about it being in the trunk either, but I think it will be ok. I plan to get the trunk upholstered someday, and a panel will hide the fuel pump. I still need to get a longer heater hose so I can go around the fuel line better, and put the real throttle cable bracket on. Luckily, it's no rush since I have my little mustang to drive for now.

Yep, Mike, my sunroof 454 is a 74 and I don't have too many spare parts for it, so I'm interested in seeing what you have. You can email me if you still have my address...

Cool, Gald it's only Temp, Hate to see such a sweet car go up in flames.
And Maybe build a box around the pump before you finish the interior, just be sure to make it acessable.
By the way, How noisey is it in there? I plan on mounting my pump on a bracket mounted to the gas tank strap. I just need to find a set of 3/8" fittings and some braided line before I crawl under to install it.

I just need to find a set of 3/8" fittings and some braided line before I crawl under to install it. Yeah I could enclose the pump before the one large panel goes over it. I want to figure out what I can do about some kind of a switch to shut it off. Maybe I can put one in the trunk, and one up on the dash or something, just in-line on/off switches or something. The pump is actually extremely quiet, this is a very nice one that is internally regulated as well. My friend was worried about it being noisy, so we installed it with big rubber mounts, but turns out, its hardly noisy at all! He was use to his old school gear and how loud his use to be, he said it sounded like a Chrysler starter was running, lol. I think the only reason I can hear the pump at all is because of the big hallow, metal trunk. Behind the rear seat is very well insulated, but the rest is just still bare metal. I can try to shoot a video sometime soon and catch the sound of it running if you'd like. When you're under the car, make sure you check for the travel in the suspension wherever you plan to mount your pump. We looked underneath for a while, but just couldn't really find a suitable spot.

You could always install a relay set up. So that when the ignition is turned on the pump turns on. That way no problems with mounting ugly switches. Also if you have a unused oil pressure port, you could install a pressure switch that will shut the power off to the pump if the engine stalls. just some ideas.
And yeah, I checked for that, my car is lowered 3" in the rear, thats why it will be mounted to the gas tank strap bolt, it's wide open in that area, Plus when I run the fuel line from the sender to the pump and the pump to the hard line, there won't be any kinks, just 2 smooth bends.

I have the fuel pump connected to the "key on" position in the fuse box, but a pressure switch might be a good idea in case of a stall or something. I dont drive the car daily these days, so I have time to let it sit while I think something up. The fuel line on mine comes out from the sender through an in-line fuel filter, into the trunk, through the pump, and straight back down into the hard line. Its one straight, flowing line

I havent posted here in a while, and I'm not even sure how active the board is these days. I'm still alive, still loving the Monte, and hoping to work on it again soon. A house mortgage really kills all your other fun...

... as well as others who seem to have disappeared...! Yeah, I've been quiet for a while. Lots of stuff going on at home. Monte is looking good, though. Time to get it out I think. Mine was officially out once this year. Everyone else should be by now too. I always run behind.
