Now he needs to tape off the inner fender and get it painted up. Hes gonna start noticing all the small details that will make it better.

Keith your right, The rear inner fenders are already blacked out same with the frame rails, the fronts we have new fenderwells for, The previous owner sprayed bed liner everywhere under the hood, the firewall, the plastic fenderwells, the fenders.... So we started masking off the fenders tonight and he pulled the driver's inner fenderwell out. tomorrow we'll start blacking everything out and cleaning the stainless hoses and clamp covers.

Mike, for now he is using the wheels that came with the car. once everything is set and he can afford a nice set, he's going to bump up to a set of polished 16" or 17" Torque Thrusts or simular.

OK, Cort, that pic makes me look a little creepy. I don't look like that anymore, though. Grew my hair back out. Got a haircut for the 1st time in the better part of a decade. LOL. LOL! Nice. Guess I need to meet up with you again, then, eh? It HAS been about 2 years now....... Well, Matt got to drive it to school today! He was the hit of the class, I guess every kid was amazed at his car, including some teahers too. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! this one especially for Cort *grins* Holy cow does that look good on there, Dave! SSSWEEEETTT!!!!!!!! Please tell Matt that is one fine looking Monte Carlo SS. I really like that 2-tone combo, the paint scheme, and those "SS" emblems ... and, of course, the best "accent" is the MC crest (Knight Shield) emblem. Dave, Tell the boy he has done a very good job and made the whole family proud. And, Uncle Jamie has a few "practice cars" he can start with when he has the time (and I have the $$$$). LOL !! My son Sam has been anxious to tear into the 68 Olds this summer. Although at 7 years old, I'm afraid of him 'tearing' up something that we just can't find or replace. But on the other hand, it's just a car and if we loose/break something... we'll just find a way to change it and make it better. Customizing it to our own liking... ya know... you can't put a price on father & son time and experiences. Car parts are just that.... car parts. Here's his passion car (for now anyway).... And there he is sticking his head out the window while he waited for me to get the truck to tow the Olds the rest of the way up the driveway (ran out of gas and we were using a half-dead battery at the time too.)

He can always spend a Summer here and we'll get it done. Only minor work on the body. Just lots of disassembly and wet sanding when its done. I want it smooth and deep. So Silver is out. Maybe a 2 tone Silver with a deep Maroon on it, too.

I thought you were looking to do it in white? But Silver and Marron would be evil looking! I like this paint job, the wheels are too big for my taste and the GNX vents just don't look right with the 2 tone, but the paint is what caught my eye. And I'm not sure Matt's ready to be away from home just yet, he got a $1500. scholarship to a Ohio Tech for their restoration program, But turned it down to go to a local community college. Of course he got 3 scholarships to there also, totalling $1700, so it's almost a free ride the first year.

I like those colors. I'm gonna have to look a lot at Evil Bay and Trader stuff to find a paint scheme I like and then try it on a model or use photoshop. So many ideas.

Matt didn't go to his prom last night, so we worked on his car  Had the Pinstripe done this morning, hard to see in the pic, but it's a dark purple stripe that separates the 2 colors. Last night installed the gauges he got for Christmas. Spent the day waxing the car for the first time. The blue pops out now! And thanks to RedlineSS Dave, I found a license plate mount that I adapted to the front to keep the plate off the paint.

NY State requires a NYDOT plate on the front and rear.
Prom? Why go? LOL, I went to my senior prom. Left my date there to go home with her brother and then my friend and my cousin went cruisin' with my uncle's 79 Gran Prix..... Hey, when you got a G-body waiting for you, why waste your time with the student body?!! LOL (especially one you were just doing a favor for by taking her to the prom anyway... LOL!!)

I never understood y some states require them and others don't. Illinois is worse, IIRC when u renew, u get a sticker for your windshield until your plates arrive. It was weird.
Prom is only once or twice though. The Monte will still b there when he got home at 5A.M.

LOL! Matt's still shy around girls, and the one that he really likes is taken, Plus he's cheap! I mean Cheaper than free airline tickets! When they told him he needed to spend $50. on a ticket, plus rent a tux, plus pictures and other things, he said FORGET THAT!!!! LOL!
I can't say anything though, I went to the drag races instead of the prom and I had more Fun than the guys who went!
Yeah were required to have a front plate, I have paid the ticket 3 times now and still refuse to put one on, LOL! But since he's 17, has the hottest car in his class, We wanted to make sure there was no additional reason for him to get pulled over, Sort of why I told him he needs to wait a few years for a Cowl hood. The cops have already been looking at my car for "Obstruction of View" I don't need him getting tickets right away.

"Obstruction of View" is crap! U ever see all the dash cams and lights in a patrol car. They r not all mounted out of line of sight. A big scoop I can understand, but a 4" cowl is not anything that is blinding.
So, how much is the ticket for no front plate?
