Yeah, I've recieved tickets for obstruction of view when I had a key chain hanging from the rear view mirror! Of course that was on top of the speeding and running a red light tickets The 4" isn't as bad as most people would think either, yes, I can't see the right front corner, but it really doesn't block all that much. Parking might be a tad harder, but I don't really park much, LOL! And it's a $75 fine with a NYS surcharge of $27 last time I payed it. all because a cop was having a bad day. Most don't even bother me, just seems like the dillweed got stuck working a Saturday night so he is out for anything that moves!

Sweet, glad to hear it. Since he seems to like cars like his old man it should be a good fit for him. Loads to learn, maybe even a discount for Dad.

And Cort I knew you'd love that shot! HA! You know me TOO well, Dave. Had the Pinstripe done this morning, hard to see in the pic, but it's a dark purple stripe that separates the 2 colors. Ooo...I like that! Sweet! And, I didn't go to prom either. Nobody wanted to go with me, so I didn't go. *shrugs* Cort | 35swm | "Mr Monte Carlo"."Mr Road Trip" | pig valve.pacemaker ...RT 66 = Sept 5-16, '09WRMNshowcase.legos.HO.models.MCs.RTs.CHD = www.chevyasylum.com/cort"I kept my heart hidden" ... Why the 700R4? Is it a TH350C now? I just figured it was a 200-4r, never really paid attention to the yesar, I guess.
If its OD u r after, I've got a 200-4r and xmember for u. Just dont have the bracket on the side of the trans any longer, but I do have a Mega Shifter also with cable. Not dropping hints or anything.
Were only 8 hours apart. 520 miles. Guess we got to meet in the middle, have lunch and swap a couple of parts.

Keith, it's only a TH350 and I'm starting to think this rear has 4:10s in it. 3500 RPMs at 55 even with a 3 speed and 3:73s is a little high. As for the 700R4, I may have a line on one for free, Thats why. But he may be up for that Crossmember and Shifter. Might have to work something out. If not, I'm stillgame for a 4 hour Drive for Lunch!

crossmembers are different and will require a frame extension on the drivers side. Most OD x-members are straight across vs. the 3 speeds that sit at an angle. pre-84s have a shorter frame mounting point on the drivers side. It got longer in 84 when the 200-4r came out in the Hurst. www.transmissioncenter.net/gforce_double_hump_crossmembers_.htmLooks like their 350 and 700R4 trans are the same, but the 200-4r sits at an angle. Maybe the 700 has the same mount location as the 350. I thought trans mounts were in different locations.

Not too sure about the monts, I'llhave to look into that when the time comes.
oh and I talked to a guy who installed a few of those G-Force cross members, He was not thrilled with them, he said they felt weak and there was a lot of flex to them. thr trans actually bounces. So I'm not sure about that. I might just stick with a stock cross member and if they are the same, Woo Hoo!!!!
Oh and his car does have the extensions, And I'm glad you researched it, I thought it was 85 and newer. I was begining to think the frame was replaced at one time.

Wow.... I thought those G-Force members looked to be pretty hefty. I see they offer one for the 2nd Generation too (which is very rare to find anything for themmm). I had bookmarked that site for going back to later... but now.... maybe not.

I'm with u Jamie, they look pretty good. It always good to hear from people who use a product.
U could always cut off and weld your own mount to the crossmember if they r different.

true, Oh well, we'll see what the time comes.
Heck, I may even try talking the guy who made Matt's exhaust fab one up. He did one for a friend of our's Camaro and it came out sweet!!! The factory one wouldn't work on his because of the frame connectors welded in and he has short motor mounts so the blower can sit under the stock hood.

It rained today so Matt and I spent a few hours swapping his gas tank, His old one was crushed when he bought it, this one is a southern tank with a much smaller dent in it, LOL! out with the old in with the new, well new to him anyways, LOL! I expect this tank will hold atleast 4 or 5 more gallons than the last one. Hopefully cause August first, were taking it on a 4 hour trip. 65 MPH with a TH350 and 3:73 gears = stopping to fill up every 2 hours!

Keith, it's a Used southern tank, and we picked it up locally for $20, New would have been over $100. Matt's only been working for 3 weeks, so were keeping it cheap right now. besides, We'll probably get a new one when the fuel injection set up goes on in a few years, I don't have all the pieces yet, LOL!
I have weekends off for the summer, but it seems like I'm always working on the house side jobs or the Montes.
And Bell Tech Spindles in front and springs in the rear, just like mine. How much you want for the springs?.

How much you want for the springs?. Shipping only if u OK with that. No use to me now. Not low enough. BTW, just missed out on a 89 Formula for $350. rotten body, but had a good 9 bolt for 1 friend, a WC T5, and TPI. None of which i need, but could have unloaded easily enough. Too late. Some people have all the luck.

SFI? with my old car was was going to leave it TBI since it was all ready there from the 4.3L and the caprice was TBI as well I have been thinking of a TBI set up, Cheap, easy conversion and that way he can stay with the air cleaner he has, plus it will look like a carb set up. Not really fast, but it will make some good torque and reliable. Unless I come across a TPI set up for the old style heads cheap. Keith, you have a deal! PM sent! And d**n! I would have loved to get hold of that car! I could have used some stuff off that car for sure!

or get the TPI and upgrade the heads ;D
but both are good systems i have found at my school (we have a chassis dyno) that TBI systems tend to be tourqe happy. they also make adapters so you can use aftermarket 4bbl intakes

Yes, the TBI set up is made for high torque, thats why it was used on light duty trucks and then trickled down to the passenger car v8, V6 and 4cyl. It makes wimpy motors pull stonger, LOL!
The TPI makes more upper end HP with it's long runners, so it works out best for sportier cars like the Camaro/Trans Am and Vette.
Then the SFI like on the GN is something of another design, But it works best with the turbos.
And yeah, I was looking at a used Holley Pro Jection set up at a swap meet, Bolts right on to the Edelbrock intake he has, the only problem was it was for 375-500 HP motors, I'm thinking it might be over kill for his 350.
